When the New York Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers in the 2023 offseason, many Jets fans were finally excited. Instead, it has not gone as planned for them. In 2023, he tore his Achilles on the fourth play of the season against the Buffalo Bills.

This season, Aaron Rodgers has regressed and is the reason why Robert Saleh was fired as head coach and Joe Douglas was also fired as general manager. Owner Woody Johnson wanted Rodgers benched after the fourth game of the season against the Denver Broncos. It is possible that Rodgers may not be back with the team in 2025.
New York Jets Find Shocking Aaron Rodgers Replacement In the 2025 NFL Draft

This offseason, the Jets are going to be tasked with finding a new head coach and a new general manager. They will also potentially be tasked with finding a new quarterback either through the draft, trade, or free agency if they move off of Aaron Rodgers.
On Monday, Pro Football Focus writer Gordon McGuinness created a mock draft for 2025. He has the New York Jets selecting seventh overall. With that pick, McGuinness has the Jets selecting quarterback Jalen Milroe from Alabama with that pick. Milroe at that pick could potentially be a reach. Gordon McGuinness said:
“Reports over the weekend suggest that the Jets could move on from Aaron Rodgers at quarterback in 2025. Even if Rodgers remains, the team should strongly consider drafting one of the top three quarterbacks if available when they’re on the clock.
Jalen Milroe offers a compelling option, having earned a career-high 81.6 PFF passing grade this season. He’s also a dynamic threat as a runner, as he has forced 24 missed tackles on 124 carries.”
Being drafted by the Jets could be the worst place for Jalen Milroe to go to. New York ruined Zach Wilson’s and Sam Darnold’s career. Jalen Milroe could be the latest quarterback to potentially be ruined by the New York Jets.
Trade Up Option

If the New York Jets were seventh in the 2025 NFL Draft, would they try and trade up for either Shedeur Sanders from Colorado or Cam Ward from Miami? That would be something to watch for if the Jets are drafting low and they don’t want Jalen Milroe from Alabama to replace Aaron Rodgers.
However, if they were to draft Milroe, they should keep Tyrod Taylor on the roster to start in 2025 and have him sit and develop. This is what the New York Jets should do if they want to learn from their mistakes in the past.
