The NFL season is quickly winding down and some teams have missed the playoffs. The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are two teams who have seen their playoff chances slipping away. The New York Jets were officially eliminated after losing 23-6 to the Seattle Seahawks. Miami on the other have a slim chance of making the playoffs after losing 23-21 to the New England Patriots. The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins have slipped into the abyss after starting the season red hot.

There was a lot of hype built around the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins over the offseason. Jet’s fans believed the Jets would make the playoffs after acing the 2022 NFL Draft. Dolphin’s fans believed offensive wizard Mike McDaniel would lead the Dolphins to the promise land. However, both teams have fallen on hard times and only have themselves to blame.

    New York Jets

As mentioned above the New York Jets have been eliminated from the playoffs. It’s crushing for a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in the last 12 seasons. Sports analysts, coaches, players, and fans were expecting big things for the 2022 Jets team. The Jets started the season well and were one of the hottest teams in the NFL. New York posted impressive wins over the Packers, Steelers, and Dolphins early in the season. The defense was playing lights out and the offense was doing just enough to win games. The Jets were 7-4 at the beginning of December with hopes of making the playoffs.

The Jets season came crashing down after their 31-10 over the Chicago Bears. Mike White stepped in as quarterback and had an impressive performance against the Bears. The Jets would go on to lose their next five games. New York has been outscored 109-60 during their five game skid. The offense has underperformed, and the team ran out of gas. The Jet’s offense currently ranks 22nd in the NFL and averages 18 points per game. Additionally, Mike White injured his ribs against the Bills, Zach Wilson didn’t play well when he returned, and the Jets played poorly against the Seahawks.

The Miami Dolphins also had high hopes after an eventful offseason. Miami hit the jackpot when they traded for Tyreek Hill. Miami hired offensive wizard Mike McDaniel to help young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Miami started the season hot and win its first three games. Miami recorded an impressive 42-38 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Sports analysts said the Dolphins would make the Superbowl. Tua led the NFL in multiple categories and was enjoying a breakout season. The offense was clicking on all cylinders thanks to McDaniel’s play calling.

Miami’s season came crashing down after losing 33-17 to the San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins have been outscored 137-104 in their last five games. Miami hasn’t been able to win close games and it has cost them. Miami’s high-scoring offense has been shut down as well. Defenses have figured out the offense and Tua hasn’t been playing well. Miami has a small chance of making the playoffs and have to beat the Jets this weekend.
