The New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard had a rough 2024 season, struggling with drops and missing time with an injury. Lazard hauled in 37 receptions on 60 targets for 530 yards and six touchdowns, finishing with six drops and tying for the 9th-highest drop percentage at 10%. He missed five games (Weeks 8-13) with a chest injury.
The New York Jets WR faced an uncertain future

Given his age—he turns 30 next December—his issues with drops, the team heading towards a rebuild, his contract, and the Jets getting rid of Aaron Rodgers’s former Packers teammates, Allen Lazard faced an uncertain future and was a possible cap casualty. Lazard enters the third year of of 4-year, $44 million contract, and he was scheduled to earn a $11 million base salary along with a $13.184 million cap hit in 2025. With a pre-June 1st cut, the front office would free up $6.632 million in cap space and incur a $6.552 million dead cap hit.
The New York Jets struggling starter agrees to massive pay cut

According to Jason Fitzgerald, the Jets and Allen Lazard have agreed to a massive $8.5 million pay cut in exchange for $1.75 million guaranteed. As a result, his $11 million base salary drops to $2.25 million, while his $13.184 million cap hit drops to $4.610 million in 2025. Finally, both parties have agreed to void the final year of his contract, making him a free agent in 2026 rather than 2027.
