The New York Jets are currently sitting at 2-2, but with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers still on the field, they are lightyears ahead of where they were at this time in 2023.
That being said, offensive performance through the first four games has left a lot to be desired. Most recently, the Jets only put up nine points in a loss to the Denver Broncos. With three-quarters of the season still left to go, a big trade could propel the Jets offense to the front of the AFC East.
The New York Jets have inquired about trading for Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams
In what would be a reunion of one of the most dynamic QB-WR duos in recent memory, NFL insider Diani Russini reports that the Jets inquired about a potential trade featuring Raiders WR Davante Adams.
The Jets were one of two teams to do so as Russini reported that Adams wants out of Las Vegas “ASAP.” The Raiders will reportedly only trade if their price is met, regardless of what Adams wants.
The Jets and Cowboys are among the many teams monitoring the Davante Adams situation. Both have checked in with the Raiders. I’m told at this point that Vegas is in no rush to make a move until a team reaches their asking price — but Adams wants out ASAP.

Through three games played, Adams has amassed 209 receiving yards and a touchdown on 18 receptions. Quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell have been the signal callers for the Raiders in 2024 with Minshew starting all four games.
Adams was in a similar QB situation with the Raiders in 2023, except QB Jimmy Garoppolo was behind center for the first portion of the season instead of Minshew. Adams still managed to have over 1,100 yards receiving, which was his lowest production since 2019 when he only played in 12 games.
The New York Jets need a spark on offense and Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams can provide that spark
Despite having one of the best running backs in the league in Breece Hall, the Jets and veteran QB Aaron Rodgers need a spark.
They’ve failed to score more than 20 points in both of their losses, with their nine-point showing against the Broncos being their most recent offensive failure. The WR trio of Allen Lazard, Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams has been surprisingly led by Lazard thus far.
Lazard is the only one in the group to have over 200 yards receiving. While the group is far from the worst in the NFL, the old connection between Rodgers and Adams could make the Jets into the serious contender everyone thought they were before the season began.
Adams has played 108 games with Rodgers in his career. In those games, he has 7,590 yards receiving and 69 touchdowns on 622 receptions. In any season with Rodgers where Adams played in more than 12 games, he never had fewer than 1,300 receiving yards. Adams admitted he missed playing with Rodgers in a CBS Sports article.
“Aaron is the type of guy, he may be in the huddle, and he’ll tell you a two-minute situation with 46 seconds left in the game. He’ll say ‘hey Tae or [Jets wide receiver] Garrett [Wilson], you remember back in 2022 when we got that one look, and you didn’t look quick enough? I need you to get your eyes around quick.’ Filing that away in your memory bank, dealing with the elephant Aaron Rodgers you got to be able to recall and correct some of those mistakes.”
Host Kay Adams asked Adams directly if he missed Rodgers as a follow-up question, and the wide receiver started grinning before answering.
“How could you not? You know, how could you not?” Adams said smiling.
If the Jets can reunite Rodgers and Adams, thus freeing up young star WR Garrett Wilson, they will be a hard team to stop.
