It has been a season that many New York Jets fans would like to forget, and when Aaron Rodgers went down with a season-ending torn Achilles on the first drive last season, many fans thought that was rock bottom; the last three months have been much worse.
The Jets have already fired head coach Robert Saleh, general manager Joe Douglas, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is not supposed to be back in 2025.
New York is going to have to fill the three biggest holes in football this offseason: head coach, general manager, and quarterback, and the easiest way to fix one of them is through the draft.
The Jets will have many options in the first round, but if a quarterback is still available, they will need to take one, and a new mock draft has them taking their franchise signal-caller of the future.
New York Jets Take A SEC Quarterback
Gordon McGuinness from Pro Football Focus published a 2025 mock draft on Monday and has the Jets taking Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe with the seventh overall pick.
Even though Milroe had a rough day against Oklahoma this past weekend, McGuinness is still high on the player and stated.
Reports over the weekend suggest that the Jets could move on from Aaron Rodgers at quarterback in 2025. Even if Rodgers remains, the team should strongly consider drafting one of the top three quarterbacks if available when they’re on the clock.
Jalen Milroe offers a compelling option, having earned a career-high 81.6 PFF passing grade this season. He’s also a dynamic threat as a runner, as he has forced 24 missed tackles on 124 carries.
Both teams from the Big Apple will most likely be taking rookie quarterbacks this offseason, and the Jets better hope they take the better one than the Giants, or they will be hearing about it for the next 50 years.
Milroe would be a great option for the New York Jets, and it would be neat to see him land there. He might need a year to learn, but he should be a star.
