The New York Jets may have breathed new life into their season with their 21-13 win over the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. After fans called for his benching following a scoreless first half, Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes in the second half, including one to Garrett Wilson that very well might be the catch of the year.

Now 3-6, Rodgers and the Jets have a slim (but realistic) chance to make the NFL Playoffs. Of course, this victory snapped a five-game losing streak and the Texans were playing their backup offensive tackles at guard by the end of the game due to multiple injuries.

Because of his Thursday night game, Rodgers’ weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, which is usually on Tuesdays, was moved to Friday. During this week’s segment, Rodgers used the platform to, once again, give his take on a couple controversial topics.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Slams the United States Providing Aid to Ukraine

Unlike most of his shows, McAfee was broadcasting from Beaver Stadium at State College in Pennsylvania. The segment with Rodgers was interrupted twice by military jets flying over the stadium. After the second flyover, Rodgers stated that each flyover costs $2 million. He followed that fact up with, “It’s $2 million we’re not sending to Ukraine, so that’s fine.”
After discussing football for a while, Rodgers returned to the statement: “I just want to clear up one comment that I made, because there is a large Ukrainian flag that flies at 1 Jets Drive,” he said. “I don’t have a problem with Ukraine, at all. I just think that there’s a lot of problems in the United States that $180 billion could maybe help instead of fighting a proxy war.”

This is a sentiment that is shared by many Americans. It is also worth noting that, earlier this year, Rodgers praised Russian “President” Vladimir Putin while appearing on Tucker Carlson’s far right podcast. When talking about Carlson’s controversial interview with the Russian leader, the four-time NFL MVP had some brow-raising comments. “Putin came off as an interesting, thoughtful, smart individual,” Rodgers said then. “And if you’ve read 1984, the base game plan of government control is you have to have an enemy, and you have to slander that enemy regardless if you know anything about them.”

Russia invaded Ukraine back in 2022. The United States, as well as other nations, have provided the Eastern European country with money, weapons, and other supplies ever since.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Spouts FEMA Conspiracy Theory

After slamming America’s support of Ukraine, Rodgers then turned his sights on the United States government and voiced a conspiracy theory that agencies are literally stealing water and food from American people affected by natural disasters.

“You know, like natural disasters, and FEMA is confiscating bottles of water and food supplies from people trying to help. Like maybe, let’s help those people out. Obviously, FEMA doesn’t have the best record if you go back to 2005 and Katrina. But I think there’s a lot of problems in the States and people hurting that could use more than, I don’t know, what’d they just give out? 600 dollars, 700 dollars? Come on.”

The problem is that there are serious questions as to the accuracy of Rodgers’ claims.
Per Awful Announcing:
“The FEMA website published a “Myth and Fact” page in early October to dispel related misinformation. The page states that the $750 is a base disbursement that every victim qualifies for as FEMA further assesses damage. It also states that FEMA ‘has enough money right now for immediate response and recovery needs’ from Helene, and tells those affected ‘do not hesitate to apply for disaster assistance.’ It has published a separate page under the headline ‘Rumor: FEMA will only provide $750 to disaster survivors to support their recovery’ to state that this is false.”
At the end of the interview, McAfee’s crew tried to bait Rodgers into revealing who he will be voting for in the Presidential election next week. While he would not answer the question, he did say that undecided voters should just ask their favorite celebrity who to vote for.
It is worth noting that Rodgers previously endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for President in 2022 and 2023 and even considered being his running mate. Kennedy has since dropped out of the race and has endorsed former President Donald Trump.

Maybe Aaron should give up some of his millions of dollars that he makes for just playing a game to those, here and there that need it. Rather than complaining about what the government spends. He could always move out of the US. Or stay and play and spot complaining.
