The New York Jets brought in Aaron Rodgers last off-season because they felt they were just one piece away from becoming a championship contender. Unfortunately, they didn’t get to see if that was true in 2023 due to Rodgers’ injury. New York has a chance this year to prove they were right.
However, Rodgers’ time in the league will be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Rodgers will turn 41-year-old at the end of 2024. It is likely he has only 1-3 more years left (if that). The Jets will need to start thinking long-term at the position, and one name continues to surface.
New York Jets’ QB Aaron Rodgers Has Successor Lined Up According To Multiple NFL Analysts
With the 2024 NFL season just around the corner, fans have a lot to look forward to. Nevertheless, we might have already taken advantage of the potential trades in 2025 without it even starting. There is a possibility Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott could soon enter the free-agent market if things do not go according to plan.
As the Jets enter this season of do-or-die, Rodgers is up against a 13-year playoff drought. Dak Prescott, the Dallas QB who is scheduled to hit the market in March, has yet to get a new contract. According to Subhomoy Sen of Essentially Sports:
Covering this situation, an NFL analyst, Craig Carton, was quick to share his views on a possible switch happening after this season. Speaking on The Carton Show, he said, while asking us to think about a hypothetical situation where
“Dak Prescott decides I am not signing I have had enough I need to get out of Dallas. I will never win a Super Bowl at Dallas. San Francisco is too good Green Bays are on the rise Detroit’s. Ahh, I am not gonna win, alright, I am going to the AFC.”
Talking about the AFC, Carton might be referring to the Jets, to which he teased, “But there’s a team in the AFC that’s got all the components in place to go and win potentially Multiple Super Bowls.” However, he was also quick to mention how that team might be lacking in a crucial position. To which he continued, “But there’s a team next year that has all the components except for possibly one, and that would be QB. Could you see Dak Prescott playing for the New York Jets? Aaron Rodgers is only signed till this year.”
The four-time MVP quarterback A-Rod was supposed to change the Jets’ fortunes last season. But ended up getting injured after playing just four snaps while rupturing his Achilles tendon. For a 40-year-old, that was a huge setback that eventually sidelined him throughout last season. However, at age 31, Dak Prescott is miles away from becoming a veteran. Moreover, his numbers last season speak for themselves, where he completed 36 touchdown passes and a career-high 4,516 passing yards. This earned Prescott a spot in All-Pro honors for the first time in his career.
A Dak Prescott trade would change the landscape of the league, to say the least. Dallas has won 12 games three years in a row. Prescott has, of course, been a huge reason for their success. However, their lack of playoff success could force Dallas to make some major changes.
Would moving on from Dak be one of those changes?
