The New York Giants are 2-8 this season after they lost to the Carolina Panthers in Germany 20-17 in overtime. Carolina improves to 3-7 on the season. The Giants improved their 2025 NFL Draft status with the loss and now will have the number two pick if the season ends today.
Brian Daboll could very well be on the hot seat as head coach. In his third season, they have not shown much improvement. If Daboll gets fired, should they hire Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, or someone else?
Why the New York Giants Should Hire Deion Sanders As Next Head Coach
This season, the Colorado Buffaloes are 7-2 in college football and they have a chance to make the college football playoffs because of Deion Sanders leading the way as coach and Shedeur Sanders, the star quarterback. If they were to win the BIG12 Conference this season, it would be a huge accomplishment for them.
When the college football season is over, Shedeur Sanders will likely declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. He could very well be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the number one pick and they don’t need a quarterback, so they would most likely select wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter from Colorado as well.
The draft would start with the number two pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. There is no question that they are going to be drafting a quarterback. They are finished with Daniel Jones. Will it be Sanders or it will be Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes? It should be Shedeur Sanders. Everyone knows that Sheduer Sanders is going to be going to the NFL.
If the Giants draft as high as number two, they should fire Brian Daboll as head coach and Joe Schoen as general manager. New York should then hire Deion Sanders as head coach. It would make his son comfortable at the next level and the Giants need some glamor, which is something they are missing.
Deion Sanders is also familiar with the NFL and he played for the Dallas Cowboys. He would understand what it takes to win in New York. Shedeur Sanders would also bring a much-needed quarterback talent to the Giants. Overall in college with Jackson State and Colorado, he has a 38-16 coaching record.
There have been coaches who have made the transition from college to the NFL. Jim Harbaugh has done it a couple of times. Deion Sanders would be able to change the Giants overnight.
Other Candidates
There will be other head coach candidates for the New York Giants other than Deion Sanders. A few of the names to watch for will be Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions, former NFL head coach Bill Belichick, and Bobby Slowik of the Houston Texans.
Ever since the New York Giants got rid of Tom Coughlin in 2015, it has been a rough go for them as head coach. Brian Daboll should be on the hot seat after the latest loss. A lot of people might think it is crazy that they should fire Daboll for Deion Sanders, but it could work in the NFL.
