The New York Giants’ Tommy DeVito became an overnight star back in November 2023, where as a local New Jersey boy, “Tommy Cutlets” captured the hearts of the nationwide, even the worldwide NFL community for his over-the-top Italian-isms and surprisingly competent play for a 7th round rookie quarterback.

After putting up some borderline horror shows in successive 20+ point losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, DeVito turned it around and pulled off 3 straight wins versus division rivals, the Washington Commanders, the impressive Green Bay Packers – who were coming off of a big win against eventual Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs – and the New England Patriots.

Even the DeVito family got involved, with Tommy’s father, Tom, becoming a breakout online phenom with his own version of his son’s touchdown celebration.

Tommy DeVito’s family is hyped 😂🤌

Tommy DeVito’s Agent Making Big Moves

Alongside the Giants’ interim starter’s rise to temporary fandom came that of his agent, Sean Stellato, a medium sized sports agent and author of ‘No Backing Down’, which was featured in the New England Patriots Hall of Fame back in 20215.

What started with simply some additional recognition; after the DeVito emergence, Stellato was inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in December 2023, has now lead to some more substantially high profile visits for the Salem native.

Sean Stellato Meets The Pope And Gifts Him An Engraved Football

Tommy DeVito, quarterback. The NY Giants NFL team held an organized team activity at their training facility in East Rutherford, NJ on Thursday May 30, 2024.

Stellato, known as a religious Italian Catholic, presumably jumped at the opportunity to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican, sit down with him, and present him with the ball of a sport that he has likely never played.

Whether the “Papa” is able to keep Tommy Cutlets as a viable bridge/backup QB option or bring another cult star into Stellato’s lap is to be determined, but for now, it is nice that the agent is getting some quality time with the most important person in Catholicism.
