The New York Giants are set to sign Abdul Carter to a fully guaranteed rookie contract on Thursday. The deal is for four years and is worth $45,255,180 with a $29,552,848 signing bonus, along with a fully guaranteed 5th-year option for 2029. However, for the Giants to officially sign Carter and their remaining draft class, they need to free up cap space, with roughly $1.1 million available.
New York Giants restructure superstar’s contract

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Giants have restructured Brian Burns’ contract by converting $16 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, freeing $12 million in cap space. As a result, his $22.25 million base salary drops to $6.25 million, while his $29.75 million cap hit drops to $17.75 million in 2025. With the restructuring of Burns, the front office should have $13.1 million to work with.
The specifics on this: $16M of Burns’ base salary was converted into a signing bonus, creating $12M in 2025 cap space. That gives the Giants cover on the Abdul Carter signing, plus more room to work with. https://t.co/xx4hL65zBz
