New York Giants: NFL Analyst Thinks They Should Rebuild In 2024

The New York Giants enter season three under the Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen regime as a team that is looking to get back to the playoffs after missing it a season ago with a 6-11 record. The Giants may have the worst quarterback room in the NFL with Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, and Drew Lock.

New York may not win many games this season because of how horrid the quarterback room is. The New York Giants do have some talent on the roster, but they are horrendous at the most important position in the NFL.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder Thinks That the New York Giants Should Rebuild In 2024

New York Giants
East Rutherford, NJ — August 24, 2024 — Tommy DeVito of the Giants is sacked by Takkarist McKinley of the Jets in the second half. The New York Giants and New York Jets meet at MetLife Stadium in the final preseason game of the 2024 season for both teams.

The Giants missed out on getting an elite quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft and they may not want to miss that opportunity again in 2025. The odds are that Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito will all not perform well. This would mean that the New York Giants would no doubt be a team to draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Matt Holder of Bleacher Report thinks that the Giants should be one of five teams in the NFL that should be rebuilding in the 2024 season. Holder said:

It wasn’t much of a secret but HBO’s Hard Knocks: Offseason With the New York Giants confirmed that the organization was interested in this past year’s quarterback prospects. General manager Joe Schoen was seen several times trying to trade up to the No. 3 overall selection and take Drake Maye, only for the New England Patriots to stick and pick Maye.

That made it pretty clear that the Giants and Schoen aren’t sold on current starter Daniel Jones, nor should they be.

Jones has had one good season out of five and is coming off of a season-ending injury. That has the makings for a tough upcoming campaign in New York and it might be time to embrace it.”

It would not be a surprise to see Jones either benched or get injured again this season. The fact that the New York Giants are doubling down on this quarterback room is totally baffling.

There Will Be Good Quarterbacks In the 2025 NFL Draft

At the top of the 2025 NFL Draft class, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck and Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Sheuder Sanders will be the top two names available. A couple of other quarterbacks that could go in the first round are Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns or Donovan Smith of the Houston Cougars.

There is no question that the New York Giants will be scouting quarterbacks once again this fall. General manager Joe Schoen and other scouts are going to focus heavily on the quarterback position. They know deep down that Daniel Jones is not the answer for the long term. Matt Holder also added:

“However, the Giants are lacking at the most important position on the field and the best way to upgrade that spot is to have a high draft pick.”

Other than the New York Giants, the Las Vegas Raiders might be the only other team that will need to draft a quarterback high in the 2025 NFL Draft. There is a chance the Carolina Panthers may want to pull the plug on Bryce Young after season two, but that probably will not happen also.
