Like last season, the New York Giants aren’t really expected to compete at all. The thing is, the latest NFL projection isn’t looking good for the team and their fans won’t love their chances.
The Giants are gearing up for the 2024 NFL season with a challenging schedule ahead. Analysts have predicted a mixed bag of outcomes for the team, which is looking to build on last year’s performance.
Beginning with their opening game, the Giants face tough opponents that will test their readiness. Key matchups include division rivals, where wins are crucial for playoff aspirations. The schedule features several primetime games, providing opportunities for the team to showcase their growth and resilience.
One of the focal points will be the performance of quarterback Daniel Jones, who is expected to lead the offense more effectively this season. The Giants will also rely on their defense, particularly in critical moments against high-scoring teams.
Injuries have been a concern in previous seasons, so maintaining player health will be vital for their success. The coaching staff has emphasized depth, aiming to have reliable backups ready to step up when needed.
New York Giants Predicted To Have a Mediocre Run For 2024-25 NFL Season
As it stands, the Giants are going to have a poorer run this season than the last. In an analysis done by Cynthia Frelund for the NFL, New York is projected to finish with 5.8 wins.

The defensive front is the strength of this team. Edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is coming off a breakthrough season with 11.5 sacks, and the 23-year-old is one of just three players with 15-plus sacks, five-plus forced fumbles and three-plus fumble recoveries since 2022. (The other two are T.J. Watt and Haason Reddick.)
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has 49 QB hits since 2022 — second-most among all DTs, behind only Chris Jones. Now, offseason addition Brian Burns provides Big Blue’s front with even more juice. Since entering the NFL as a first-round pick of the Panthers in 2019, Burns has piled up 148 quick pressures (under 2.5 seconds) — fourth-most in NFL, per NGS, behind only Myles Garrett, Aaron Donald and Watt.
The Giants’ overall strategy will hinge on a balanced attack, blending a strong running game with strategic passing plays to stack up more wins than their projected record. They’ll have to be creative and resilient, given their schedule and the kind of opponents the team will be facing all season long.
Fans will be watching closely to see if the Giants can capitalize on their opportunities and improve their standing in the competitive NFC East or they give justice to the projected record given to them. With a mix of excitement and uncertainty, the 2024 campaign is something Giants fans shouldn’t miss.
