Although the New York Giants just won their first game of the season, they may want to consider trading Azeez Ojulari to improve the roster. In this regard, the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are projected to make a move on the lilnebacker.
The Giants face a crucial decision regarding Ojulari, drafted in the second round in 2021. While he was once seen as a promising talent, his struggle with injuries has hindered his development. Over three seasons, Ojulari has started just 25 games and recorded 16 sacks, with eight coming in his rookie year.

With the recent acquisition of Brian Burns, Ojulari’s role may diminish further, leading to speculation about his future in New York. The Giants now boast an impressive pass-rushing duo in Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, potentially relegating Ojulari to a situational player. As he enters the final year of his rookie contract, the Giants might consider trading him to save cap space and gain additional draft assets.
Teams generally hesitate to part with young pass rushers, but Ojulari’s inconsistent performance raises questions. His injuries, particularly groin and hamstring issues, have limited his impact on the field.
NFL Analysis Predicts Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons to Pursue New York Giants’ Azeez Ojulari

Rather than see Ojulari languish with the Giants, the front office may entertain the thought of trading him. Accorrding to an NFL analysis by Kristopher Knox for Bleacher Report, Atlanta and Tampa Bay may pursue him ahead of the deadline.
“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be a logical landing spot for the 24-year-old. They have their eyes on another NFC South title this season but could use a defensive boost, especially on the edge.
No team has recorded fewer sacks this season than the Buccaneers, who have two.
The Atlanta Falcons could also use Ojulari’s help. Though they did trade for Matthew Judon just before the start of the season, their pass rush remains mediocre.
Atlanta has just one more sack than the Buccaneers, and by targeting Ojulari, it could ensure he doesn’t go to a division rival,” Knox wrote.
One potential trade partner could be the Falcons, who are in need of pass-rushing help. Pairing Ojulari with former Giant Lorenzo Carter might provide Atlanta with a much-needed edge threat. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are also in the mix and reportedly considering a trade for Ojulari to enhance their pass rush.

Ultimately, the Giants must weigh Ojulari’s potential against his injury history and the opportunity to secure valuable assets in a trade, making this a pivotal moment for both the player and the franchise. With his potential and the Giants’ focus on rebuilding, the linebacker could potentially provide either the Falcons or Buccaneers with a valuable edge rusher, addressing their defensive needs as they aim for a stronger season.
