New York Giants first-round rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is putting on a show during joint practices against the Detroit Lions, and building confidence with quarterback Daniel Jones.
Throughout training camp, Nabers has been a standout for the Giants’ offense, and offered plenty of reasons to be optimistic that this is the season New York’s offense takes flight.
However, when matched up against Lions first-round pick cornerback Terrion Arnold, Nabers turned in one of his most impressive reps of camp, burning the former Alabama standout for a deep touchdown reception from Jones.

New York Giants Have High Hopes for Malik Nabers
Nabers arrives in the Swamps of Jersey having caught 189 passes for 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns, while averaging 15.9 yards per reception across three collegiate seasons at LSU.
The Giants have to be encouraged by Nabers’ ability to get behind the defense, beating tight coverage for a long touchdown pass from Jones, given that the organization hopes that his presence will unlock deep-ball opportunities for the quarterback chosen No. 6 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft but facing immense pressure in 2023.
“He’s talented for sure,” Jones recently said of Nabers during a conversation with GoLong. “He’s got a lot of physical ability and right now it’s about building chemistry and getting on the same page, building trust with him and all the guys. We’ve got a number of guys who can do things differently and are really good at a lot of different things, which gives us a lot of versatility on offense.”
