Pressure is on New York Giants HC Brian Daboll
The New York Giants made the playoffs in head coach Brian Daboll’s first season with the team. That doesn’t mean expectations are relaxed for the sophomore head coach. After all, the Giants fell well short of competing with their rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Divisional Round of the playoffs in the postseason. The Giants co-owner sent Daboll a jestful laced warning at the League Annual Meeting this week.
John Mara was a guest on SiriusXM NFL Radio this week. Mara said he told Daboll not to get boastful this offseason:
“We kid him,” Mara said. “I mean, right now, he’s Bono walking around New York City. But I’ve told him, I’ve said, ‘In this business, it doesn’t take long to go from Bono to Bozo. So don’t get your head too big right now.’ But he has been great.”

The Giants have kept some major pieces of last year’s team. We’ll see what Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley can do in Daboll’s second season. Jones’ play and his contract could be what makes or breaks Daboll’s career in New York.
