The New York Giants are 2-9 this season and are playing the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. There is a chance that the Giants might get the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If the season ended today, the Jacksonville Jaguars would own the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The New York Giants already moved off of Daniel Jones by releasing him last Friday. Tommy DeVito is starting for the Giants. Drew Lock is the second quarterback on the roster and Tim Boyle is the third quarterback on the roster.
New York Giants Select Colorado Buffaloes Quarterback Shedeur Sanders In Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
On Monday, Pro Football Focus writer Gordon McGuinness created a 2025 NFL Mock Draft. He has the New York Giants selecting second overall in the draft and has them selecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders from the Colorado Buffaloes. McGuinness said:
“By the time the draft arrives, the New York Giants could end up with the top overall pick, especially after transitioning to Tommy DeVito at quarterback. Currently slated to pick second, they would have their choice of quarterbacks if Jacksonville holds the top spot and opts not to take one, barring a trade.
In Shedeur Sanders, the Giants would secure a prospect who has earned an elite 90.5 PFF passing grade this season, committing a turnover-worthy play on just 1.0% of his dropbacks.”
Sanders is most likely the best quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. It will be either him or Cam Ward from the Miami Hurricanes. The New York Giants haven’t had a special quarterback since Eli Manning. Shedeur Sanders has a chance to be the next franchise quarterback for this team for a while.
The Giants have some talent on the roster with running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and wide receiver Malik Nabers. Theo Johnson is a young emerging tight end as well.
Deion Sanders As Next Head Coach?
If the New York Giants have either the number one or two pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, there is a chance that both Brian Daboll will be out as head coach and also Joe Schoen will be out as general manager. The Giants could be looking for a new head coach next season.
If they are in line to draft Shedeur Sanders, then there is a chance that they could hire Deion Sanders as the next head coach. That could be something to watch for with the New York Giants moving forward.
