There are a lot of New York Giants fans who are unpleased with general manager Joe Schoen getting a fourth season with the franchise. After finishing the 2024 season with a 3-14 record, a lot of fans felt like he should have been fired along with head coach Brian Daboll.
Many fans feel like Schoen messed up by not re-signing Saquon Barkley. Xavier McKinney was also not re-signed and Joe Schoen also messed up the quarterback room during the 2024 season. Many fans feel uneasy with him making the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen Makes Comments About Finding a Quarterback This Offseason
It is not a secret that the Giants need to find a quarterback for the 2025 season and beyond. They may draft someone in either the first or second round. They could also sign another quarterback for the 2025 season. There is a great chance that New York could draft either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders if available with the third overall pick.
They could also sign Justin Fields, Sam Darnold, Jameis Winston, or trade for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford this offseason. Giants general manager Joe Schoen spoke to the media on Tuesday ahead of the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Schoen said:
“I’m for taking swings at that position. It’s the most important position and it’s hard to find them. So keep swinging.”
It is not a secret that Schoen struck out by doubling down on Daniel Jones last season. Jones was released later in the NFL season. Drew Lock, Tim Boyle, and Tommy DeVito also played games at quarterback last season for the Giants. It was the worst quarterback room in the NFL.

It is surprising to some that Schoen and Daboll both have jobs. It feels like Joe Schoen is a very desperate general manager this offseason. He knows he has to win games this season or he will be fired along with Daboll after the 2025 season concludes.
