New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones had his season end last year in Week 9 when he tore his ACL against the Las Vegas Raiders. Jones has also had issues in the past with his neck. It was the second time in three years that he suffered a season-ending injury.
The New York Giants may need to draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft after they made an attempt to trade up from the sixth pick to the third pick in 2024, but failed to do so. The New England Patriots did not want to move out of that slot because they selected quarterback Drake Maye from North Carolina and that is the player the Giants were eyeing all along.
They had no interest in drafting J.J. McCarthy or any of the other rookies that were still on the board sixth overall. New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is ranked 32nd in the latest CBS Sports Quarterbacks Ranking Poll by Cody Benjamin.
He will be entering year six with the organization. The reasoning Benjamin gave as to why Jones was ranked 32nd in this poll is as follows:
“The Giants reportedly dabbled with replacing their rehabbing investment, whose ball-security issues returned behind a porous line in 2023. Perhaps Malik Nabers can restore his fortunes.”
The fact that Jones is ranked behind every single quarterback is crazy. He is ranked players like Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, Bo Nix of the Denver Broncos, Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears, and J.J. McCarthy of the Minnesota Vikings, who have yet to even play a down in the NFL.
Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers is ranked 31st in the rankings and he looked like the worst quarterback in the NFL last season. A lot can change between now and the end of 2024, but we will see how these rankings are.
New York Giants Fans React To Daniel Jones Being Ranked 32nd In CBS Sports Poll
There have been fans who either love or hate Jones. Even the ones who have not been a fan of him find it ridiculous that he is ranked 32nd on this list. Here is what some of them had to say:
Wait a minute. It was Saquon that was holding Daniel Jones back from being a better QB? #NYGiants https://t.co/w4AhjNN7G8 pic.twitter.com/sev1oKPGI8

The Daniel Jones slander is out of control. Played at a top 10 level (6th in QBR) two years ago. Had four starts from start to finish in 2023 and now he’s below every rookie QB and career backups?
The idea he’s a complete scrub is stupid. Came three TD passes shy of the… https://t.co/Y8Y4wI0mMC

Daniel jones being ranked 32nd is too high for a dude ranked 46th in EPA with a CLEAN POCKET 🤣 https://t.co/tysy71gGxC

As for now, Jones will be the starting quarterback in Week 1 for the Giants. However, all of that could change if he gets hurt during NFL training camp or if Drew Lock outplays him during the preseason.
