On Monday, the New York Giants decided to bench Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. Jones was automatically demoted to third-string because head coach Brian Daboll announced that Drew Lock was going to be the backup quarterback on GameDay.
On Tuesday, the Giants decided to sign quarterback Tim Boyle to the practice squad. This was a very interesting decision by New York.
New York Giants Daniel Jones Demoted To 4th String At Practice On Wednesday
On Wednesday, the New York Giants were back at practice and are getting ready to prepare for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dan Duggan of The Athletic reported:
“Daniel Jones was the fourth QB up in individual drills behind practice squad QB Tim Boyle.”
This is a very interesting decision by the Giants brass. Does this mean that Boyle is going to be elevated to the 53-man roster on GameDay to be the third-string emergency quarterback in case something happens to Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito? New York really doesn’t want to see Daniel Jones play because of the $23 million injury guarantee for the 2025 season.

Just keep the man home. This is pathetic on Daboll’s part

I love how before this week everyone was all, “Bench Jones, he’s a bum,” & now everyone says that Schoen and Daboll should be fired because they benched Jones and went with Cutlets instead of Lock.
Of course he’s going to be 4th, he got benched mostly bc of the injury guarantee.

Feel bad for the guy but is what it is. Business decision that is in the best interest of the franchise.

Just like Daboll dealt with Wink Martindale — indirectly and weakly by firing his assistant in order to provoke Martindale to quit. Now he embarrasses Jones. No wonder Daboll has lost this team. He is the farthest thing from a leader.

Will Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen both be the head coach and the general manager in 2025 to draft its next franchise quarterback? If not, there will be a new quarterback replacing Daniel Jones, a new head coach, and a new general manager. It is going to be hard for the New York Giants to win another game this season.
