The New York Giants’ head coach, Brian Daboll, faces a pivotal fourth season as their head coach with his job on the line. If the team exceeds expectations and makes it to the playoffs, he will more than likely keep his job heading into 2026. However, if the Giants underperform as they did in the past two seasons, chances are Daboll will get fired after the end of the 2025 season.

Their head coach isn’t the only person in New York facing a make-or-break season.

So far, Evan Neal has had a very disappointing start to his NFL career and has not lived up to the early expectations and the high draft pick. He has struggled when he plays and has not been able to stay healthy in his first three seasons, missing 22 out of 51 regular-season games with an MCL sprain and ankle injuries. Because of his struggles on the football field and to stay healthy, the Giants declined his 5th-year option for the 2026 season. Neal will hit free agency next offseason and has one year to figure it out.

How does a position change sound?

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN NFL Nation, Evan Neal switched positions during OTAs, converting from right tackle to guard with an opportunity to compete for a starting job. As Raanan points out, he worked out at left guard on Wednesday and received second-team reps. The last time Neal played at left guard was in 2019, during his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Given the recent success of players moving from tackle to guard, i.e., Mekhi Becton, many Giants fans are excited about the transition.

Been saying this for awhile, his natural position was LT, it only made sense for them to put him in at LG.
