The New York Giants have had another brutal season. Due to the way they have played, the team made the decision to bench Daniel Jones once again.
Following the benching, Jones requested his release from the team and it was granted. Jones is no longer a part of the franchise and the Giants have no long-term quarterback of the future in sight.
More than likely, New York will look into bringing one in during the NFL offseason. If they continue losing the way they have so far this season, they’ll have a legitimate shot at a top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At the top of the 2024 draft class, there are a lot of franchise caliber quarterback prospects that they could consider.
New York Giants Urged to Pursue Dynamic New Franchise QB in 2025 Offseason
Bleacher Report has urged the New York Giants to pursue one quarterback specifically in the 2025 NFL Draft. They think that Alabama Crimson Tide standout Jalen Milroe would be the right target for the Giants.
“Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, while not an overly polished prospect, might plug right into Brian Daboll’s offense as a dual-threat quarterback. Milroe might need to spend some time on the bench before taking over the offense, which is why adding a veteran like Dalton ahead of the draft would be wise.”
Technically, they’re suggesting that the Giants go out and sign Andy Dalton in NFL free agency and then draft Milroe. Dalton would be a solid bridge quarterback while they develop Milroe.
During the 2024 college football season with Alabama, Milroe has had an up-and-down season. At times he has looked like a potential NFL star caliber talent, but others he has fallen flat.
He has completed 65 percent of his pass attempts for 2,396 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Milroe has also recorded 615 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground.
Unfortunately for New York Giants fans, Milroe is far from a sure thing at the quarterback position. He’s a dynamic playmaker, but there is also bust potential in him.
A much better scenario would be the Giants ending up with either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders.
All of that being said, New York will be shopping for a new quarterback of the future in the offseason. It will be interesting to see what they end up choosing to do.
