The New York Giants did not live up to expectations last season. They hope they will make the necessary moves in training camp to be a better football team in 2024. A season ago, Daniel Jones had a major regression after just throwing five interceptions in the previous season.
Jones only had 909 yards, two touchdowns, and eight interceptions for the New York Giants. His season ended in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders because of a Torn ACL. The Giants have other players on the roster in 2024 who could potentially take a step backward this season.

Along with Daniel Jones starting games for the New York Giants at the quarterback position last season, Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito also started games for them. In the offseason, Taylor signed with the New York Jets and the Giants signed Drew Lock to the roster.
Pro Football Network Thinks That New York Giants Wide Receiver Darius Slayton Is a Regression Candidate This Season

Pro Football Network’s Anthony DiBona predicted at least one regression for each NFL team entering the 2024 season. He thinks that New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton will regress in the 2024 season. DiBona said:
“Darius Slayton apparently wants a new contract, but that doesn’t seem likely to happen this offseason. Instead, the Giants have added several wide receivers in 2024, including first-round pick Malik Nabers.”
For now, Slayton will be one of the starting wide receivers along with Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. What the New York Giants are hoping for is for second-year player Jalin Hyatt to overtake Darius Slayton’s spot at some point.
It appears as if the Giants do not want to re-sign Slayton after this season. He could very well be traded at the NFL trade deadline or they could just choose not to re-sign him after the 2024 season.
Last season with the New York Giants, Darius Slayton caught 50 passes for 770 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 15.4 yards per reception. He also was targeted 79 times a season ago.

Slayton was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Auburn. At 27 years old, it is understandable why he would want a contract extension for the New York Giants. However, it seems as if he does not fit into the long-term plans of the organization.
A receiving core of Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt will have a lot of potential at some point. Slayton has led the Giants in receiving yards for the past four of five seasons, but adding Malik Nabers to the roster through the NFL Draft makes him the number-one receiving option this NFL season.
