New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones did not play in the last preseason game against the Detroit Lions. The plan is for him to play in the next preseason game for the Giants against the Houston Texans on Saturday. Jones has a chance to show what he can do for New York after tearing his ACL last season in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Fans will want to how he moves against other defenses. Jones did not look bad in the joint practice against the Detroit Lions last week. Last year, he only threw for 909 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions. In the previous season, Jones had 15 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. Will see if he can play better than both of those seasons combined in 2024.
In the last preseason game for the Giants, Drew Lock and Tommy Devito both played quarterback. Lock was injured in the first quarter with a hip injury and he did not return. Drew Lock will be out for the next couple of weeks. Lock was signed as a free agent in the offseason. He played for the Seattle Seahawks last year.
The Giants have no plans to sign another quarterback to the roster for the time being. Tommy DeVito will be the backup quarterback for Daniel Jones for now.
How Will New York Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones Play?
Should the Giants play him or sit him? Some fans want to see him play in the preseason game against the Houston Texans because he did not play in the last game. They need to see what they have with him before the start of the 2024 season.
It will be interesting to see if wide receiver Malik Nabers will play at all in this game against the Houston Texans. On Sunday, Nabers suffered an ankle injury and it could have been a whole lot worse than it was. A lot of Giants fans want him sidelined until the first week of the 2024 regular season.
This will be the first time that Daniel Jones will be playing behind this new offensive line. Will he look good or will it be the same old nonsense? Jones has practiced taking shots down the field this offseason. Jalin Hyatt has benefited from this new look this offseason.
Head coach Brian Daboll will be calling the plays and not offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. Daniel Jones will look to be better in 2024 than he was in 2023. The biggest question mark with this offense other than the offensive line is quarterback play. Jones may play the entire first half against the Houston Texans. Tommy DeVito will play the rest of the game after that.
