The New York Giants seemed to execute a multi-faceted plan during the 2025 NFL Draft.
For weeks leading up to the draft, there was a strong sense inside the NFL that the pressure was on general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll to win-big in 2025, and the Giants responded in kind by selecting former Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter No. 2 overall pick.
New York also trained one eye on the future, as well as perhaps an ideal fit for Daboll’s scheme by aggressively trading back into the first round to select former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, without the pressure to play him immediately.
However, it is another Giants draft choice, who could make an immediate impact on one of the league’s most listless offenses in 2024 that is garnering significant praise.
New York Giants’ Cam Skattebo Pick Listed Among Biggest NFL Draft Steals

The Giants also added a potentially significant weapon to boost the offense this season, and perhaps even eventually ease Dart’s development, by tabbing running back Cameron Skattebo in the third round, with the No. 105 overall pick.
“Skattebo was RB3 and the No. 51 overall player on the PFF Big Board,” Mason Cameron writes for PFF, listing the Skattebo pick as one of the draft’s biggest steals. “Making this a strong value pick for the Giants at the top of the fourth round. He doesn’t have elite speed, but he excels in many areas that translate well to the NFL. Skattebo ranked above the 85th percentile in PFF rushing grade in both gap and zone schemes in 2024 and was the only running back besides Ashton Jeanty to force more than 100 missed tackles on the ground last season.”

Skattebo rushed for 1,711 yards last season with 21 touchdowns, as the focal point of an Arizona State ground game that helped power a run to the College Football Playoff.
Thanks to his elusiveness, Skattebo could make an immediate impact for the Giants, alongside 2024 rookie sensation Tyrone Tracy, perhaps rounding out a dynamic backfield duo on East Rutherford.
