The New York Giants have a new running back in Cam Skattebo, an intriguing talent out of the Arizona State Sun Devils football program.
Coming off a scintillating final season with the Sun Devils, Skattebo knows he’s got a lot to prove in the pros, regardless of the legacy he left in Tempe.
“How many snaps of the NFL have you seen me play? Zero, right? I’ve proved nothing,” Skatebo said Friday during rookie minicamp, per team transcript. “I’ve proved what I am in college, but I’ve proved nothing at this level.
So now where I’m at, I have to prove myself and if that’s for five years or if that’s for 10 years, I’m going to continue to prove myself.”
New York Giants rookie RB doesn’t mind the naysayers

Skattebo isn’t considered by many as the speediest of the running backs taken in the 2025 NFL draft, but the Giants’ fourth-round pickup could make up for his lack of breakaway speed with his physical brand of play.
For Skattebo, he welcomes all the doubts, which he plans to use as fuel in his NFL career.
“This past year I didn’t do it a ton,” he said. “I more so hit people or attacked their one shoulder, but I mean, if people want to sleep, they can sleep.
I have no issue with that. It’s been something I’ve had to deal with my whole life, so I’m going to continue to do what I need to do to be successful and play as long as I can in this league.”
In his final year with the Sun Devils in the 2024 season, Skattebo rushed for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries through 13 games on his way to finishing fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
