New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is preparing for his third NFL season with the franchise. In his first season, he went 9-7-1 with a playoff appearance and missed it in season two with a 6-11 record. This will be a big year for the Giants as they look to get back to the playoffs.

During OTAs, it appears as if Brian Daboll is going to be calling the plays for the offense this season despite having Mike Kafka titled as the offensive coordinator. ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan posted this video about Daboll potentially calling plays in 2024:
It’s Brian Daboll’s show. All signs point to him calling plays this season. pic.twitter.com/awQuTpTESL

This comes as an interesting surprise because Kafka does want to become a head coach somewhere else in the NFL. The Giants had one of the worst offenses in the NFL a season ago.
Before Brian Daboll took the job with the Giants, he was the offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills and helped them be one of the best offenses in the league. He helped develop quarterback Josh Allen into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

That is what helped Daboll become a head coach. He hopes to be with the Giants franchise for a long time.
New York Giants Fans Respond To Brian Daboll Calling Plays Potentially For the 2024 Season

It is no surprise that Giants fans are happy that Daboll is going to be calling the plays this season potentially instead of Mike Kafka. This is what some of them had to say on Twitter:
The writing is on the wall. The whole idea of assistant HC is so Kafka can be more involved with situational awareness of all aspects on the in game decision making while Dabolls attention is more focused on play calling

I see nothing wrong with Kafka taking on a more “HC” role, with Daboll focusing more on offensive play-calling if thats what makes the team better.

Everyone knew this it’s why Kafka had other duties added on. Kafka’s offensive knowledge is already proven, it’ll help him to prepare in other ways for a head coach position. Should be a non-story at this point.

It will be interesting to see how much better quarterback Daniel Jones will play this season with Daboll calling the plays compared to Kafka. One speculated last season in Week 2 that Brian Daboll called plays when they led the comeback victory against the Arizona Cardinals. The New York Giants offense needs to get out of the basement this season.
