They say the NFL Draft starts in Mobile, during the Senior Bowl, but, as a new trailer for HBO’s forthcoming offseason edition of Hard Knocks, offseason wheeling and dealing also kicks off in Port City.
For the first time, Hard Knocks will chronicle the offseason moves made by an NFL franchise, this season the New York Giants, and the network has already teased out some juicy clips from the series.

In a conversation that takes place on the practice field leading up to the Senior Bowl, Giants general manager Joe Schoen is seen joking around with his former employer, Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane about trading up to the No. 6 overall pick.
Likewise, Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan suggested the Giants could trade for pass-rusher Brian Burns, which clearly piqued Schoen’s interest.

During the first days of free agency, the Panthers shipped Burns and a 2024 fifth-round pick (No. 166) to the Giants in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick (No. 39), as well as a 2024 fifth-round pick (No. 141), and a 2025 fifth-round pick.
What Brian Burns brings the New York Giants

Burns immediately elevates the Giants’ front seven and rounds out a formidable pass-rush duo opposite emerging star Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Last season, Burns produced eight sacks and has tallied 46 through the first five seasons os his career since being chosen by the Panthers with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
In a division that features Super Bowl contenders such as the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, Burns’ arrival gives the Giants’ front seven some teeth.
After signing a five-year contract worth $141 million, Burns arrives in North Jersey as a foundational centerpiece of the Giants’ defense.
