The New York Giants got off to about as bad of a start to the season as it gets last week. New York lost to the Minnesota Vikings by a final score of 28-6. As a result, the Giants’ 2024 season already does not look promising.
If that was not enough, they faced the possibility of rookie WR Malik Nabers missing the team’s Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders. Now, there is a big update to his status for Week 2. Read below to find out more.
Malik Nabers Cleared for Week 2
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, New York Giants rookie WR Malik Nabers has been cleared to play for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders. Yesterday, he was listed on the team’s injury report with an apparent knee injury. Today, Giants head coach Brian Daboll seemed to dismiss this, saying there was “no concern” about Nabers’ knee.
Good Professional Debut
Malik Nabers has played just one NFL game thus far. However, he has gotten a lot of anticipation from both Giants fans and the organization. So, how did he do in his professional debut?
Truthfully, he performed well individually despite the team suffering a bad loss. Nabers had five catches and 66 receiving yards. He was one of the better rookie wide receivers statistically who made their professional debut last week.
New York Giants Moving Forward
Now, the New York Giants can focus on the task at hand. They play their division rival, the Washington Commanders, who are coming off of a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rookie QB Jayden Daniels will get a chance to show the league what he is made of against talented defensive players such as Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
