“What Are They Doing?” New York Giants Fans Furious with Team’s Decision with 3rd Overall Pick

The New York Giants front office was reportedly in a little bit of a panic in the hour leading up to the draft. Per reports, they were upset that their draft plans, presumably their interest in Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, had been leaked to the rest of the NFL world.

However, it appears that those reports were overblown. While the Cleveland Browns did trade the second overall pick ahead of New York, the Jacksonville Jaguars used that pick to select Travis Hunter, whom everyone assumed would be the second overall pick anyway.

But instead of using the third overall pick on a quarterback as many expected, the Giants used it on Penn State’s Abdul Carter.

The New York Giants Selected Abdul Carter with the 3rd Overall Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

Penn State’s Abdul Carter led all of college football with 24 tackles for loss in 2024. He also had 12.0 sacks and 68 tackles while playing in 16 games.

There were, though, some concerns about Carter’s durability leading up the 2025 NFL Draft. He suffered a shoulder injury against Boise State in the College Playoffs semi-final, and then a stress fracture in his foot during the NFL Scouting Combine.

While he initially was considering having surgery on his foot, he decided not to and has been able to return to training.

Obviously, the Giants felt good enough with how his injuries have healed and used one of the highest picks in the draft to take him.

But while New York obviously felt good about Carter, their fans are not convinced, and let their displeasure be known on social media:

    The giants are forever doomed

As one can see, many Giants fans wanted a quarterback, specifically Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

It will be interesting to see what New York does with the rest of their picks in this draft.
