The 2-1 New Orleans Saints travel to Atlanta, Georiga, to play against the 1-2 Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their fourth regular season game of the 2024 season. The Saints had a busy Wednesday afternoon as the team made a flurry of roster moves. The roster moves pertained to their offensive line.
The New Orleans Saints placed their Pro Bowler on injured reserve
The Saints placed Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy on injured reserve. McCoy suffered an apparent groin injury on the third snap of their 12-15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He will undergo groin surgery this week, and he will miss around six to eight weeks.
As of now, Lucas Patrick will replace McCoy at center in the starting rotation, although nothing is official. The Saints promoted an offensive lineman who can play center.
The New Orleans Saints signed an interior offensive lineman with 12 career starts
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints signed Shane Lemieux from the practice squad to the active roster. Lemieux competed for the backup center job and a roster spot during training camp. Unfortunately, he did not make the 53-man roster but re-signed to their practice squad. He will probably serve as the backup center or could start at left or right guard if Cesar Ruiz doesn’t play.
OL Shane Lemieux got signed to the active roster.

Fans react to the news
How many O-linemen are we going to never play that actually deserve to play??

I liked Lemieux a lot this preseason. To me, he looked a little better at the fundamentals than some of the guys physically better than him.

If I’m the Saints I’m starting Shane Lemieux at center and keeping Lucus Patrick at LG.
