New Orleans Saints: Announced Devastating Injury News Regarding All-Pro Ahead of Week 7

The New Orleans Saints have already ruled out their top two receivers for tonight’s game on Prime Video. Chris Olave will not play because he suffered a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will not clear the concussion protocol due to the short week.

Their leading receiver will also miss today’s game.

The New Orleans Saints All-Pro will undergo surgery

Rashid Shaheed will miss today’s game because of a knee injury suffered against the Buccaneers. Shaheed will undergo surgery to repair his meniscus this week, and doctors had a choice for him to undergo a meniscus trim or a full repair. A trim would cause him to miss a few weeks, and a full repair would cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Unfortunately, the doctors chose the latter.

He will miss the rest of the season

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Rashid Shaheed underwent meniscus surgery today. The doctors opted for the full repair instead of the trim, and Shaheed will miss the rest of the 2024 season, a devasting blow to the New Orleans Saints offense and special teams. He faces a four-to-six-month recovery time, but the Saints expect him to be ready for the 2025 season.

How did he perform in his first six games?

Rashid Shaheed had a solid start to the season, picking up where he left off in the passing game last season. Shaheed had 20 receptions for 349 yards and three touchdowns, which ranks third in receptions, first in yards, and first in touchdowns on the team.

Not only is Shaheed effective in the passing game, but also dangerous returning kicks and punts. He has six kick returns for 171 yards. He also has nine punt returns for 143 yards and one touchdown. He is ranked 14th in kick return yardage, 2nd in punt return yardage, and is one of two players with a punt return touchdown in the National Football League.

The New Orleans Saints will miss their talented young receiver and return specialist.
