The New Orleans Saints lost 10-16 to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium in their second preseason game. The pass defense did ok, allowing 222 passing yards but failing to record an interception. Joshua Dobbs led San Francisco in passing by completing 12 passes on 21 pass attempts for 133 yards.
The Saints, unfortunately, didn’t finish the game unscathed. Their rookie exited the game with an injury.
The New Orleans Saints second-round pick exited the game early
Kool-Aid McKinstry suffered a knee injury in the 49ers’ opening drive after trying to pick off an interceptable pass as the 49ers’ receiver tripped Kool-Aid up on the play. McKinstry limped off the field and went into the injury tent. He tried to exercise on the sideline and even rode the exercise bike for a little while, but to no avail.
He returned to the medical tent and went to the locker room shortly after. As a result, he missed the remainder of the game. After the game, Dennis Allen told reporters that they believed McKinstry avoided a significant injury.
“He has a knee injury, I think we avoided anything serious,” Allen said, via Jeremy Trottier of USAToday.com. “Now, what kind of time we are looking at, I really have no idea. But I think we escaped the game, at least on initial report, without any major injuries.”
