The New Orleans Saints signed free agent Junior Galette to a free agent deal after the Temple pass rusher wasn’t selected during the 2010 NFL Draft. His energetic play made him a fan favorite during the preseason, and after he blocked a punt and registered two sacks in the Saints’ final preseason game, Galette was selected for the Saints’ 53-man regular season roster in 2010.
Over the next few years, Galette found his way into the starting lineup and shined as a pass rusher for the Saints.
In the 2013 season, Galette signed a 3-year deal worth up to 9 million dollars. Galette became the the New Orleans Saints regular starter at outside linebacker under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and posted a breakout season with a team-high 12 sacks.
On September 3, 2014, Galette signed a four-year contract extension worth $41.5 million. He was selected by teammates as one of the defensive team captains for the 2014 season and played all 16 of the Saints’ games that season and ended up getting 45 total tackles, 10 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. On July 24, 2015, Galette was officially released from the team.
On July 31, 2015, Galette signed a one-year contract with the Washington Redskins. After completing training camp, it was announced that he tore his left Achilles tendon a week prior to the first game of the season and would spend the entire 2015 season on the injured reserve list.
Galette rehabbed the left Achilles and signed a one-year, up to $4 million deal for the upcoming 2016 season on March 15, 2016. In a terrible twist of fate, the former New Orleans Saints star tore his right Achilles tendon and missed the entire 2016 season. Galette rehabbed again, and signed another deal with Washington, agreeing to play in 2017 for the veterans minimum. Galette outperformed the minimum deal, recording 3 sacks and ranking 3rd in the NFL in quarterback pressure rate, as a sub-rusher appearing in all 16 games.
On February 1, 2017, Galette re-signed with the Redskins on another one-year contract. Galette did not appear on Washington’s injury list at all during the 2017 season. Following the 2017 season in which Galette got 3 sacks, Washington withdrew its offer to Galette after disagreements over a salary dispute. \
Galette, then famously has sued the NFL $300 million in damages for racial discrimination and blacklisting him.
Former New Orleans Saints Star Junior Galette Has Been Given At Least 113 Traffic Tickets According To Investigation
According to a recent investigation from FOX 8 in New Orleans, Galette has piled up an insane amount of traffic tickets from his time playing in the Big Easy.
The FOX 8 probe turned up a number of high-profile people who still owed the city of New Orleans money for parking offenses, including Galette, who accumulated “at least 113 tickets worth $22,395.”
The former New Orleans Saints star provided no records of making restitution and reportedly threatened to sue FOX 8.
Overall, New Orleans is owed $135,002,518.56 in traffic camera ticket fees, which could help pay for goods and services throughout the city. However, it is tough to collect on the overdue fines in many cases, said New Orleans’ Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montaño.
“I can’t anticipate money coming from these people that have chosen a whole different path in life and in their financial world,” Montaño said. “I don’t think we’ll ever see that money and that’s called a sunk cost.”
Galette, 36, played for the Saints from 2010-14. During that time, he recorded 128 tackles, 31.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 64 games with 30 starts.
