The New Orleans Saints will have some major questions to answer during the upcoming NFL offseason. Obviously, the biggest question will come at the quarterback position.
Do the Saints truly believe that Derek Carr is the guy that they want to continue building around? Or, would they prefer to pursue another quarterback to be their long-term franchise cornerstone?
At this point in the season, New Orleans would land the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft if the season ended today. They could lose more throughout the rest of the year and land a higher pick.
In order to get one of the elite quarterbacks in the draft class, they would need to get up into the top five or even the top three. They could consider trading up for one of those selections.
All of that being said, the New Orleans Saints have been urged to pursue a dynamic quarterback in the draft.
New Orleans Saints Urged to Pursue Dynamic QB in 2025 NFL Draft
Bleacher Report has stated that the Saints should be targeting Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Sanders would be a terrific fit alongside Kamara, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. New Orleans’ ability to land him, though, could hinge on their next head-coaching hire. Colorado head coach—and Shedeur’s father—Deion Sanders recently told FS1’s Speak that he would “step in” if the quarterback appears headed to a bad situation via the draft.”
If New Orleans were to have a pick high enough to land Sanders and were to be given his dad’s blessing, Sanders would be a massive pickup for the long-term outlook of the franchise.
During the 2024 college football season with Colorado, Sanders has completed 73.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,488 yards, 30 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He has also scored four touchdowns on the ground.
Should the New Orleans Saints land Sanders, they would be getting an elite arm talent. He brings confidence and a bit of cockiness to the field. That would fit well with the Saints.
Expect to hear a lot of rumors surrounding New Orleans this offseason. Sanders may not end up being attainable, but if they have a chance to get him they should strongly consider the option.
