The New Orleans Saints aim for a better outcome in 2025 and to contend for the NFC South division and a playoff berth in Kellen Moore’s first year as head coach after failing to reach the playoffs in the post-Drew Brees era. For that to happen, the quarterback position needs to be at their A-game. The Saints also need their $150 million starter to stay healthy after battling injuries last year.
The New Orleans Saints QB missed seven games in 2024

Derek Carr suffered an oblique injury in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, which caused him to miss their next three games. He returned in Week 9 and would play in their next five contests before another injury derailed his season. Carr suffered a significant season-ending fractured left hand and a concussion in Week 14 against the New York Giants.
On top of that, he is dealing with another significant injury.

Could the New Orleans Saints draft his replacement?

The Saints currently have the ninth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and an opportunity to select his replacement. One quarterback who could fall into their laps is former Colorado Buffaloes Shedeur Sanders. Sanders could be available since the Cleveland Browns are leaning toward drafting Travis Hunter, while the New York Giants have already signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
Another option is former Mississippi Rebels Jaxson Dart.
