The New Orleans Saints are attempting to snap a six-game losing streak against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. While they finally have starting quarterback Derek Carr back from an oblique injury, they are now going to be without one of their best wide receivers, and it looks like it could be for a while.
With about seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, Saints wide receiver Chris Olave took a nasty shot to his head when attempting to catch a high pass. Panthers safety Xavier Woods was flagged for an illegal hit on the play.
Olave appeared to lose consciousness and needed to be stretchered off the field:
Prayers: #Saints WR Chris Olave is down on the field after taking a hit to the head.
He is being stretchered off of the field.

Without a doubt, the third-year wide receiver suffered a concussion on the play. Once it is official, it will be the fifth reported concussion of his career and second of the season. He previously suffered a head injury on October 13 this year.
Could New Orleans Saints Wide Receiver Chris Olave Be Forced to Medically Retire?

As mentioned, this will be Olave’s fifth confirmed concussion since he started his NFL career less than three years ago. Also as mentioned, it is his second concussion this season.
With so many head injuries sustained over a short period of time, many fans are wondering if this is the end of his NFL career:
This guy has more head injuries than Tua, in a shorter time. Nobody talks about it. https://t.co/GS6v2Nx5Cj

Olave should hang up his cleats if it’s another concussion https://t.co/mdwptLnYvF

Olave, like the Saints as a team, is having a down year this year with 31 receptions for 387 yards and a touchdown. However, he eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first two seasons in the NFL.
It is unknown how long Olave will be out, but it could be for a while.
