The New Orleans Breakers have signed on more former CFL talent (for former CFL talent drafted in the 2023 USFL draft, look here). McLeod Bethel-Thompson is coming to New Orleans! He barely missed Mardi Gras… there’s always next year.
Bethel Thompson’s career so far
Bethel-Thompson played college ball for the UCLA Bruins and the Sacramento State Hornets. After graduation in 2010, McLeod did a Kurt Warner and played for the Arena Football League with the San Jose SaberCats. From there, he played briefly with the San Francisco 49ers, followed by a short stint in the UFL; McLeod would play for many NFL football teams next, including the Miami Dolphins (twice), the 49ers (2 more times), the New England Patriots, the Minnesota Vikings (twice), and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The traveling QB would move along to the CFL in 2016. Bethel Thompson had a short gig with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, followed by his long-term position with the Toronto Argonauts. After five years with the CFL, McLeod is moving back to the states to be closer to family. He left on an excellent note, though – he led the league and made career highs in 2022 with 4,731 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions, helping his team get to the Grey Cup.

Bethel-Thompson’s family
McLeod is married to Mrs. Chinaka Hodge – a well-known poet and writer. The couple has one daughter, Aziza. MBT’s grandfather was Wilbur “Moose” Thompson, a 1948 Olympic shot-put champion. We know where the athletic talent comes from!
Welcome to the team, McLeod Bethel-Thompson. We’re lucky to have you!
