The New England Patriots have made some big improvements this off-season. Although, the question remains, will it be enough? Eliot Wolf was recently promoted from Patriots Director of Scouting, to Vice President of Player Personnel, after a successful Draft. He added some great weapons and a potential franchise quarterback, but could he make one more big move before the season starts. Adding a true superstar at the receiver position could elevate this offense to a serious threat in the AFC East.

Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has been absent from mandatory minicamp, which many predict is due to a contract dispute. Lamb is likely to sit out until he gets a contract extension, and he is going to get some big time money. The receiver market has been giving out some seriously big contracts recently, and with Lamb being one of the league’s best, he will soon be a very rich man. If Dallas for some reason doesn’t want to give out that large of a contract, could the Patriots make a move for the star receiver?
Eliot Wolf added Ja’Lynn Polk, and Javon Baker, to a receiver room that already had Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, and K.J. Osborn. Overall, the Patriots have a decent group, but if they add the talents of CeeDee Lamb, it will have a serious impact on the rest of the room. Lamb is a true number one receiver, and he will dictate coverage by requiring the most attention from the defense. This will allow the other players to have favorable matchups against single coverage. If the Patriots make a push for Lamb, it will not only give them the true superstar weapon they have needed for years, it will also elevate the other receivers on the roster.

How else could CeeDee Lamb help the 2024 Patriots? He would be Drake Maye’s best friend when it comes to his development. The best thing a team can do for a rookie quarterback, is to surround him with talent, and do whatever it takes to help him succeed. New England failed to do this for Mac Jones, and many fans are hoping they don’t make the same mistake with Drake Maye. Not to mention, Maye is incredibly talented and has the arm to get Lamb the ball anywhere on the field. This would be a huge change for New England fans who haven’t seen an exciting offense since Tom Brady left for Tampa. If Eliot Wolf wants to do everything in his power to help Maye, he will surely test the waters on a trade for Lamb.
What would the Patriots need to give up for a superstar receiver?

Obviously if the Cowboys decide to move Lamb, they are going to want a big offer. Now that the Patriots have secured their potential franchise quarterback, they may be willing to give up more than they would’ve in previous years. The Cowboys will likely want a first round pick at least, but could Eliot Wolf find a way to get Lamb to Foxborough without giving up too much Draft capital? It is hard to say now, and only time will tell, but if Wolf gets Lamb in a Patriots uniform this summer, look out for a statue in his honor outside of GIllette Stadium. The Foxborough Faithful would be incredibly thankful and excited, for a superstar on the offense after the last few seasons of mediocrity.
