The New England Patriots sign a tight end
The New England Patriots have been working in free agency this week to improve the offense for quarterback Mac Jones. The Patriots, who will have a real-life offensive coordinator for the first time since the 2021 season, seem aggressive in adding impact players on that side of the ball after a lackluster campaign in 2022.
The Patriots signed Super Bowl-winning wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster this week. They will have a new tight for 2023 as well. According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Patriots are signing Mike Gesicki.

Gesicki has been with the Miami Dolphins since they drafted him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Dolphins applied the franchise tag to Gesicki for the 2022 season. However, the Dolphins didn’t have the cap space or will to sign him to a long-term deal.
Gesicki has 2,617 receiving yards and 18 touchdown receptions in his career with the Dolphins. The Dolphins’ defense will now have to play against the speedy tight end twice a season in the AFC East.
