After several weeks, the New England Patriots have shown how immensely they’re struggling against most teams in the league. Accordig to an NFL analysis by Bleacher Report, there’s one move they must pull off before the trade deadline.
The Patriots are enduring a challenging season as they sit at the bottom of the NFL power rankings. Following a 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans, the Patriots’ struggles on offense have become increasingly evident. With rookie Drake Maye stepping in as the starting quarterback, the team’s offensive woes are compounded by the recent arrest of star defensive player Jabrill Peppers.
Despite having a solid defense capable of keeping them competitive, the Patriots’ inability to score consistently has hindered their overall performance. They currently rank among the league’s lowest in points scored, and the pressure is mounting as they prepare to face the Houston Texans at home.
As the season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the Patriots can find a way to turn things around. With their current trajectory, they need to address their offensive inefficiencies urgently to avoid further decline in the standings.
NFL Analysis Urges New England Patriots By Trading For Elite Wide Receiver
Although it might seem hard at this point of the season, the Patriots must end up with a talented wide receiver before the trade deadline has passed. This is explained more in detail by Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.
What the Patriots need, and currently lack, is a true No. 1 receiver. They tried to upgrade their receiving corps by trading for Brandon Aiyuk in the offseason, but the San Francisco 49ers’ wideout had “no interest” in their contract offer, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.
With Maye now under center, it’s time for the Patriots to resume their pursuit of a top target. Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams is an obvious target, since he’s already told the Raiders that he’d prefer to be traded.
Of course, Adams may not be thrilled with the idea of leaving one rebuilding team for another.
Browns receiver Amari Cooper would also make a ton of sense for New England. He’s a savvy veteran and a terrific route-runner who could serve as a safety net for a young signal-caller like Maye. He also played under offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt over the last two years in Cleveland.
As the Patriots look to build a strong offense around Maye, acquiring a true number one wide receiver is crucial. Apart from Adams or Cooper, other potential targets include Romeo Doubs from the Green Bay Packers, who has shown promise but faces discontent with his current role.
Another option is Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals, who could become a top-tier receiver in free agency. Finally, drafting Travis Hunter from Colorado could provide a high-impact playmaker. Strengthening their receiving corps will be vital for Maye’s development and the team’s success moving forward.
