The New England Patriots season started quite strong under new head coach Jerod Mayo. The team got a very nice win to start the season against the Cincinnati Bengals and should have followed that up with a second straight win against the Seattle Seahawks barring a blocked field goal late in the fourth quarter.
However, it seems their season is going to implode before it even gets started due to, as usual around the NFL, injuries. The team is reportedly going to lose major stars for the season already, and they are dealing with an incredible amount of injuries to other star players and key starters on both sides of the ball.
New England Patriots Decimated With Injuries
The Patriots are not the only team that’s decimated and it’s only week 2. The team released their official injury report on Monday and it does not bode well for their Thursday night matchup. The team started so strong in these first two games, and they will desperately need the ‘next man up’ to perform. Here is the full injury report:
DNP:
- C David Andrews (hip)
- LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder)
- T Vederian Lowe (knee)
- G Sidy Sow (ankle)
- LB Oshane Ximines (knee)
The two crucial names here are Andrews and Bentley, with Bentley reportedly being done for the season. Both of those players are huge for the team with Andrews being absolutely crucial to the offense and Bentley to the defense. These will be huge losses for the foreseeable future. To make matters worse, the team is missing tons of lineman which will not help their offense at all.
#Patriots standout LB Ja'Whaun Bentley’s injury is worse than publicly known, and sources says he’s out for the season with a torn pec.

With these types of injuries, and players missing so much of the season, it almost feels like the season is over before it started. To make matters worse, that is just the beginning of the list.
Limited Participant:
- LB Anfernee Jennings (knee)
- CB Marcus Jones (knee)
- OL Mike Onwenu (wrist)
- S Jabrill Peppers (shoulder)
- G Layden Robinson (shoulder)
- DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (shoulder)
This list features many key starters for the team and most of these players will not be available for the Thursday night matchup. The team is hoping that they can get everyone healthy within a few weeks, but this will be almost impossible to come back from and get consistent wins.
When missing this amount of starters, it is just not possible to get wins on Sunday in this league, and the Los Angeles Rams are a great example of that this past Sunday. All the players on the LP list are questionable for this upcoming matchup, and the key starters on the DNP list will probably be out for a very long time and even the whole season.
Injuries are brutal in this league and when a team suffers this many injuries early in the year, it makes for a slow rough season.
