The New England Patriots were off to an impressive start under new head coach Jerod Mayo. Unfortunately, the team got devastating news during the week in regards to injuries that are certainly going to set the team back a bit. Multiple key starters will be out for a prolonged period, and they could be missing up to 8 starters in their Thursday night matchup against the New York Jets.
New England Patriots Decimated at Offensive Line
The Patriots will have their first primetime game of the season against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets but they will be without many notable starters. On Wednesday the team officially ruled out their starting offensive lineman Vederian Lowe and reserve guard Sidy Sow.
That is just the beginning of their line problems as they also listed center David Andrews and right tackle Mike Onwenu as questionable with various injuries. If either of them is not able to go the Patriots will have real issues with so many backups protecting their quarterback. Andrews specifically is their leader and rock at O-Line for many years now.
Onwenu is their best lineman and he has always been healthy in his career, if he is not able to go the Jets’ defense should make light work of the backups.

Their key linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley is reportedly out for the season, but there are two other key defenders on this list. Both Jabrill Peppers and Deatrich Wise Jr. are key players on their defense which struggled last week against the Seattle Seahawks.
They will need a much better showing against Rodgers if they want to stay in this game with all of these injuries. If the game is close late in the second half that won’t be such a favorable position with Rodgers on the other side of the ball, but if they can manage to produce an elite defensive outing they can certainly find a way to win the game.
#Patriots standout LB Ja'Whaun Bentley’s injury is worse than publicly known, and sources says he’s out for the season with a torn pec.

The Jets, on the other hand, can use this division-rival game to start building up some wins and giving their Hall of Fame quarterback more reps coming off his injury from last year.
Will the Patriots and Mayo be able to pull out the win in spite of their injuries? If they did it would certainly bode well for Mayo’s future with this team. Their future starting quarterback has been on the bench and every win they get will be crucial in building the new culture for Drake Maye to walk into.
