The New England Patriots fell to 1-4 on the season following their 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. They were playing without one of their captains and best defensive players, defensive back Jabrill Peppers. The eight-year NFL veteran, who previously played for the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, is dealing with a shoulder injury.
He also is facing some serious criminal charges.
On Monday morning, it was reported that Peppers had been arrested on Saturday morning. He is currently facing charges of assault, strangulation, and drug possession.
The Patriots have declined to comment on the situation, though they have stated that they are aware of it.
The Lawyer for New England Patriots Defensive Back Jabrill Peppers Claims His Client Is Innocent
Peppers was in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing related to the charges brought against him. While he himself did not answer any questions from reporters, his lawyer did make the following statement:
“What I said in the court room, I’ll repeat: We have evidence that completely contradicts the alleged victim’s story, and I expect my client to be fully exonerated.”
Jabrill Peppers’ attorney: “What I said in the court room, I’ll repeat: We have evidence that completely contradicts the alleged victim’s story, and I expect my client to be fully exonerated.”
Reporter: “It was video evidence?”
Attorney: “Yes, and other evidence, as well.”… pic.twitter.com/J3I1wuSn6S

As one can see from the X (formerly Twitter) post and video above, Peppers’ lawyer claims they have video evidence that will prove that the Patriots defensive back is innocent. He also claims they have additional evidence that will support their claim.
As mentioned, the Patriots have chosen not to address the situation beyond saying they are aware of the criminal investigation.
It is not yet known whether Peppers will be able to play against the Houston Texans on Sunday or not.
