A former New England Patriots star wants to see more Mac Jones
Reports came out this week the New England Patriots are looking to shop quarterback Mac Jones this offseason. One former Patriots player thinks that might be hasty. The news came out a week after owner Robert Kraft voiced support for Jones before the quarterback heads into his third season in the NFL.

However, there is reportedly a riff going on in New England between head coach Bill Belichick and Jones. (Kraft made his own suspicious comments last week regarding Belichick’s future with the Patriots.)
According to Zack Cox with NESN, Jason McCourty, who made a massive play in the Patriots Super win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, said on Good Morning Football that he thinks the team should give Jones more time:
“So I think these rumblings and everything we’re hearing, we need to slow down. Let’s see what Mac Jones does in Year 3 with a guy like (new offensive coordinator) Bill O’Brien coming back who has a ton of experience, a ton of success in the NFL, in the college ranks, and let’s see what Mac is able to do in his third year as quarterback for the New England Patriots. Let’s see how he overcomes all this adversity of all the conversations being had and all of these different things.
“But be careful what you wish for in hopes of ‘there’s something better on the other side,’ that the grass is greener, because Mac was really good in his rookie year. Let’s see what he can become.”
That seems like sage advice from McCourty. Jones wasn’t given much of a chance to succeed last season.
