The New England Patriots needed to address the wide receiver position during the offseason since they don’t have a clear-cut number one or number two receiver on their active roster, and they have failed to acquire a big-name player. New England backed off their interest in DK Metcalf partially because he didn’t want to play in Foxborough, according to Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston. The Patriots also pursued Chris Godwin and offered him a lucrative contract, but he ultimately re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a team-friendly deal.
The New England Patriots visited with a Pro Bowl WR last week

The Patriots visited with Stefon Diggs last Wednesday and Thursday. Diggs arrived in Foxborough and had dinner with the team on Wednesday night. He then took part in meetings and underwent a physical with the team to assess his recovery from last season’s ACL tear sustained in Week 8. The meeting went well, but he left without a deal, and both sides planned to stay in touch.
It’s been almost a week since Diggs met with the Patriots, and many fans are wondering if they will sign him.
