The 2-6 New England Patriots travel to Nashville to face the 1-6 Tennesee Titans at Nissan Stadium for their ninth regular season game. The outcome of tomorrow’s game could be decided by who starts at quarterback for the Patriots. During the week, fans were waiting on the status of the 3rd-overall pick and whether he could play this week since he sustained a head injury a week ago.
The New England Patriots rookie suffered a concussion in Week 8

Drake Maye suffered an apparent head injury in the second quarter of last week’s victory over the New York Jets after scrambling for an 18-yard gain, and linebacker Jamien Sherwood hit him on the back of the helmet after a delayed slide. Maye would finish the drive, but that would be his last of the game. He entered the concussion protocol and missed the rest of the game as Jacoby Brissett led the team to a comeback victory.

Requirements for him to play tomorrow

For him to play this week, the NFL rules require him to go through the five phases of clearing the concussion protocol. Here are the five phases:
- Symptom Limited Activity
- Aerobic Exercise
- Football-Specific Exercise
- Club-Based Non-Contact Training Drills
- Full Football Activity/Clearance
Mike Masala of The Sporting News went through the five phases in further detail.
The team announced massive news

Drake Maye participated in this week’s practice as a limited participant and had a questionable destination for Week 9. For Maye to play tomorrow, he had to clear the concussion protocol, and he did just that. On X, the Patriots announced that he cleared the concussion protocol in time for their Week 9 game against the Tennesee Titans. Not only is he cleared to play, but the Patriots also removed him from the injury report.

Jerod Mayo, in the final press conference of the week, told the media that if Maye were to clear the protocol, he would start. “Once he gets out of the protocol, I think we feel once he’s been cleared by the medical professionals, he’ll be ready to go,” Coach Mayo said on Friday.
The Patriots rookie will make his fourth consecutive start tomorrow.
