The New England Patriots will own the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. New England had a 4-13 record this past season and they decided to fire head coach Jerod Mayo after just one season.
The Patriots hired Mike Vrabel to be the new head coach this season. One of the things that he will have to do is help quarterback Drake Maye succeed. One potential name that the Patriots could trade for is Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.
New England Patriots Have Kicked the Tires On a Potential Metcalf Trade
On Wednesday, it was reported that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade. He has one year remaining on his contract. Metcalf last season with Seattle caught 66 passes for 992 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 15.0 yards per reception. He was also targeted 108 times.
DK Metcalf is 27 years old. He will also be looking for a new contract. Also, Taylor Kyles, who covers the New England Patriots said on his Twitter page,

It is not a surprise that this is the case. New England needs a number one wide receiver for quarterback Drake Maye. Maye last season completed 66.6% of his passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 421 yards on 54 carries and two touchdowns during his rookie season. Drake Maye also averaged 7.8 yards per carry.

There are a few teams other than the New England Patriots that DK Metcalf could be traded to. The Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Las Vegas Raiders will be some of the teams to keep an eye on during the Metcalf sweepstakes. It will be interesting to see if the Patriots can land Metcalf or not in a potential trade also.
