The New England Patriots made a big splash in Free Agency by adding wide receiver, Stefon Diggs. Diggs is a great weapon for second year quarterback, Drake Maye, but New England shouldn’t be done adding weapons this off-season. There are quite a few potential fits for the Patriots at receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft, but which ones would be the best complement to Stefon Diggs?
Travis Hunter, Colorado

The first name that comes to mind as a great Patriots fit, is the best receiver in the entire Draft, Travis Hunter. Hunter is an explosive athlete that can turn just about any play into a touchdown. With Hunter’s explosive athleticism, and the pairing of Stefon Diggs’ ability to find soft zones in coverages and move the chains, New England could turn into an incredibly dangerous offense in 2025. Now all that is left to do for the Patriots, is hope Hunter falls to pick number four in April.
Luther Burden III, Missouri

One of my favorite prospects in the entire NFL Draft is Luther Burden III from Missouri. He had a down year in 2024, and he has drastically fallen down Draft boards. However, his tape in 2023 is nothing short of spectacular. He was considered to be one of the best receivers in the country in 2023, and then his production fell off a cliff due to poor quarterback play. The upside of Burden is a true, coverage dictating, number one receiver at the NFL level. If the Patriots can manage to get him in the second round, or even trade up from pick thirty-eight to select him in the back end of the first round, he could reach his full potential alongside Stefon Diggs in Foxborough.
Matthew Golden, Texas

Over the last couple of months, nobody’s Draft stock has risen as much as Texas receiver, Matthew Golden. Golden has been in discussions to be a top fifteen pick when the Draft finally rolls around in April, which would make him a great trade down candidate for the Patriots. If the Patriots move down the board from pick four, then Golden should be in consideration for them. Adding Golden to a New England offense that already has Stefon Diggs could maximize his potential. Golden would be a great downfield, big play threat, while Diggs can move the chains and be the more reliable safety blanket for Drake Maye.
Will the Patriots use a valuable Draft asset on a receiver after adding Stefon Diggs?

Patriots Head Coach, Mike Vrabel has shown through Free Agency, that he is sparing no expense when it comes to bringing talented players to New England. This could mean that he will have no problem using a premium Draft asset on a playmaker to grow and develop with Drake Maye. Not to mention, having Stefon Diggs on the roster will allow a rookie receiver to maximize his production and potential by giving him favorable matchups and not having the pressure of being the number one option as a rookie.
