The New England Patriots have structured their defense around players who fit Mike Vrabel’s scheme. One position in particular that New England has rebuilt is the off-ball linebacker position. The Patriots released Sione Takitaki in February and added Robert Spillane, who spent part of his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans, last week.

Gibbens spent his first two seasons with Vrabel as a member of the Tennessee Titans. He recorded 95 tackles, three TFLs, two QB hits, one sack, and three pass deflections in 14 games and 13 starts in 2023. The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent can rush the passer, defend against the run, and excel in pass coverage.
The newcomer had an uneventful 2024 season

Jack Gibbens had an uneventful 2024 season, seeing his starts and snap counts dip and missed half of the year due to injury. Gibbens recorded 44 tackles, two TFLs, one QB, and 0.5 sacks in ten games and five starts, representing 235 (39%) snaps. Unfortunately, he missed the final seven games with a season-ending ankle injury.
The Tennessee Titans opted against tendering Gibbens, making him an unrestricted free agent.
