The Dallas Cowboys are trading game day for screen time in Netflix’s latest sports docuseries. The streaming platform unveiled a fresh trailer and confirmed the premiere date for America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys, a deep dive into the storied franchise.

The 65-second trailer highlights defining moments from Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ storied history, set against a powerful narration of William Ernest Henley’s poem Invictus.

The trailer features quick glimpses of Cowboys legends like Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith. Former head coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer also appear, reflecting on their time with “America’s Team.” The docuseries will also explore Jerry Jones’ rise—tracing how he bought the franchise and helped shape it into the powerhouse it is today.

“A man who bet it all. A series of calculated risks. A team meticulously designed for greatness. America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys is the definitive story of The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones’ impact on NFL history,” was written in the Netflix description.

Set to premiere on August 19, the docuseries centers on Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ Super Bowl run in the 1990s. First announced in May 2024, the series will span eight episodes, each running 45 minutes, marking Netflix’s latest deep dive into the Cowboys’ storied legacy.

The documentary will also feature appearances from prominent political and pop culture figures, including former President George W. Bush, Nike founder Phil Knight, and media executive Rupert Murdoch.

The new docuseries extends the Cowboys’ growing partnership with Netflix. The platform also launched America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, a behind-the-scenes look at the triumphs and challenges of life as a member of the iconic cheer squad.

Skydance Sports is producing the series in collaboration with NFL Films and Stardust Frames Productions.

Netflix continues to grow its footprint in live sports, including last year’s high-profile boxing event between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, which streamed from the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium. The platform also began airing NFL games by hosting Christmas Day matchups during the previous season. That partnership moves forward this year, with Netflix set to stream Cowboys vs. Commanders and Lions vs. Vikings on Christmas Day as part of its exclusive three-year agreement to carry holiday games through 2026.
